Shape the Future of Genome Editing
A Japan-based biotech venture is developing a novel genome editing platform that does not rely on the CRISPR/Cas system. This proprietary technology aims to overcome the inherent limitations of current CRISPR-based methods, enabling new therapeutic strategies and next-generation drug discovery approaches.
The team is now expanding and seeking a motivated Scientist to join the research group and contribute to the advancement of this cutting-edge platform.
Position Overview
As a Scientist in the R&D team, you will be responsible for designing, executing, and leading molecular biology and related experiments that support the development and application of a next-generation genome editing system. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary scientists inside and outside the company to drive innovation from concept to application.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and development activities to advance novel genome editing technologies
- Design and execute molecular biology experiments and project strategies
- Perform cell biology and biochemical assays as required
- Collaborate with internal scientists and external partners to accelerate progress
- Lead research activities with clear priorities, ownership, and agility
Research Focus Areas
Applicants with direct experience in one or both of the following domains are highly encouraged to apply:
- CAR engineering – Chimeric Antigen Receptor design, construction, and optimization
- Molecular evolution / Protein engineering – Directed evolution, mutagenesis, and structure-function analysis
Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. or equivalent experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or related life sciences
- Solid hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques (e.g., cloning, expression analysis, mutagenesis)
Preferred:
- Strong understanding of mammalian cell function at the molecular level
- Experience in genetic or protein engineering, or directed evolution
- Broad scientific knowledge and insight into biological systems
- Proven research record (e.g., publications, patents)

Employment Conditions
- Work Hours: 9:00–18:00 (lunch break 12:00–13:00)
- Holidays: Five-day work week (Saturday/Sunday off), public holidays, year-end holidays
- Work Style: Discretionary labor system
- Contract Type: Permanent employee (negotiable)
- Option: 1-year fixed-term contract with the possibility of conversion to permanent upon mutual agreement
- Probation Period: 3 months
